LA CALAVERA CATRINA’s microbial composition includes strains capable of fixating atmospheric nitrogen, thus converting it into forms, available for plants to utilize. Another highly beneficial property of these microbes is their ability to solubilize phosphorus, found in the soil. This is especially important for plants, because they are not capable of using the insoluble forms of phosphorus present in the soil.

The microbial inoculate is cultivated under optimal conditions – culture media and parameters, such as temperature, pH, O2, are selected by our research team to provide the best possible results of the fermentation process.

Azotobacter vinelandii is capable of nitrogen fixation – a process of turning atmospheric nitrogen, which is unavailable for plants use, into ammonia. Ammonia is then absorbed by plants, or converted further into nitrates, which are also bio-available for plant utilisation.

The product also contains a variety of strains belonging to Bacillus spp. For example, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens induces inherent systemic resistance in plants against infections; exerts antagonism against different soil pathogens suppressing their growth; produces growth hormones which stimulate plant development.

Pseudomonas species solubilize phosphorus, produce a variety of compounds with fungicidal effect, enhance phytohormone synthesis. They also secrete siderophores – iron-binding substances, that give these bacteria dominance over soil pathogens.

Exogenous application of phytohormones can be beneficial for plants growth and development, but it is economically unsustainable. On the other hand, through the controlled application of beneficial microflora, plants’ inherent phytohormone biosynthesis will be affected positively, while being budget friendly.
